For our first meeting of the new season, we caught up with friends and welcomed 2 new people to the Guild.  We look forward to sharing our knowledge with you.  We had a visitor - Emma from the WoolWagon.biz   Emma, gave us a brief talk on her own craft background, how she had started her business and of course details of her lovely yarns!  She had yarns to suit all tastes and pockets, from lovely double knitting to sock yarn to chunky - in fact yarns you would not see in the shops with lovely colours to unusual textures.  The Wool Wagon, can been seen at St Georges Market every Friday and c

Many thanks to Bill James for standing in at short notice (unfortunately Liz had to cancel) and revelling to us the mysteries of how our machines work and the best ways to look after them. He advised on what we should do after completing a garment and then on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis.

We have no excuse now!

 

Also thanks to Harriett for showing us the 'easy sock' method - will have patterns for the next meeting.

AGM- Tombola: bring any NEW unwanted gifts, not just machine knitting related - can be anything but must be new! DVD - after lunch we will watch a DVD of Knitting Techniques and may try out the techniques on a machine!

Make a Christmas Bauble - Dorothy will show us how to make a Christmas Bauble.  Show your items from the Quick Knits Workshop: also donations can be left for a nominated charity.  Sports Patterns: Please bring patterns which have a sporting theme eg sporting motifs, cricket jumper and share ideas for the competition.  Christmas Lunch at the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum.  Secret Santa: if you want to be included in Secret Santa, bring a pracel containing a recently knitted or new craft based item.Lovely Day - making the Bauble was fun and the Lunch was lovely!

Quick Knits Workshop: Bring knitting patterns for Quick items to knit and share.  This can be a blanket, hat, gloves, jumper - anything machine or hand knit. If you want to join in, please bring a single bed machine and yarn or you could bring an item to hand knit or sew up!  The items will be displayed in the November meeting.An enjoyable day! Working without interruptions, shear bliss!
